Daughtry is an American rock band led by frontman Chris Daughtry, known for their multi-platinum albums and numerous hit singles worldwide. After Chris Daughtry became a finalist on the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, he formed the band Daughtry, which quickly rose to prominence with their self-titled debut album. Released in November 2006, the album immediately reached number one on the Billboard 200, going on to sell over six million copies in the United States and earning six-times platinum certification from the RIAA. Recognized as the best-selling album of 2007 by Billboard, it also became the fastest-selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history.
In 2019, Chris Daughtry gained further widespread recognition as the ‘Rottweiler’ on the second season of The Masked Singer, finishing as the runner-up. Demonstrating a renewed focus on rock-centric music, the band signed with Big Machine Records in August 2023 following a departure from RCA Records. This new partnership quickly yielded success with their single ‘Artificial,’ which soared to number one on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in February 2024. Daughtry continues to evolve their signature sound, with new material on the horizon.
The band has announced the upcoming EPs ‘Shock to the System (Part One)’ and ‘Shock to the System (Part Two),’ slated for release in late 2024 and 2025, respectively. These releases signal Daughtry’s ongoing commitment to delivering impactful rock music and expanding their acclaimed discography.
