Eden Pessia Ben Zaken was born on June 8, 1994, in Jerusalem, Israel, to parents of Ashkenazi (Polish-Jewish) and Moroccan Jewish descent. Her mother, Maya, is a teacher, and her father, Shai, is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Israel Defense Forces. At the age of one, her family relocated to Kiryat Shmona. Ben Zaken’s musical journey began early, though she did not advance in the ninth season of “Kohav Nolad” at 17. In 2013, at 18, she participated in the first season of X Factor Israel, where she placed second, marking her entry into the public eye.
Following her appearance on X Factor Israel, Eden Ben Zaken released her debut single, “Mangina” (Tune), in January 2015. This was followed by the hit “Malkat Hashoshanim” (Queen of the Roses) in May 2015, which garnered 29 million views on YouTube. Her first album, also titled “Malkat Hashoshanim,” was released in September 2015, achieving gold certification after selling over 15,000 copies and double-platinum for 50,000 digital downloads. She was named “Singer of the Year” in 2015 by several Israeli radio stations, Channel 24, and the Mako website, a title she would win again in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, she also earned the “Woman of the Year” title from Galgalatz, Israel’s most popular radio station.
Her second album, “Ta’amin li” (Believe Me), was released in September 2016, achieving platinum certification with 40,000 copies sold in under two months. Notable tracks from this album included “Af echad” (Nobody), which topped the Galgalatz weekly playlist. In 2017, Eden Ben Zaken released her third album, “Lezot shenitzha” (To the One Who Won). She also served as a judge in the third season of X Factor Israel. Her career has seen five of her songs enter the yearly chart of Galgalatz, with two in the top ten, setting a record for a female artist. In 2024, she collaborated with Noga Erez on the single “Godmother” for the album “The Vandalist.”
