Elsa y Elmar is the musical project of Colombian singer-songwriter Elsa Carvajal, whose career has been marked by a unique blend of synth-pop infused with folk, tropical, and Latin elements. Carvajal’s journey began at a young age, taking music classes and later enrolling in a jazz academy. Her passion for music led her to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she developed her artistic vision and created the concept of Elsa y Elmar in 2012.
In 2014, Carvajal achieved significant recognition by winning the Grand Prize in the Latin category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her song “Me Viene Bien.” This accolade propelled her into the spotlight, and in 2016, she had the honor of opening for Coldplay in front of 40,000 fans at the Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, showcasing her growing influence in the music scene.
Elsa y Elmar’s debut full-length album, “Rey,” was released in 2015, featuring the single “Exploradora,” which highlighted her ethereal sound and artistic depth. The following years saw her perform at major festivals, further solidifying her reputation as a rising star in Latin music. In 2019, she released her second album, “Eres Diamante,” earning a nomination for Best New Artist at the Latin Grammy Awards.
In 2022, Carvajal released her third LP, “ya no somos los mismos,” which delves into themes of heartbreak and healing. The album was accompanied by a short film, demonstrating her commitment to artistic expression. With each project, Elsa y Elmar continues to captivate audiences with her spiritual pop sound and poignant storytelling, establishing herself as a significant figure in contemporary Latin music.
