About

Emily Warren Schwartz, born on August 25, 1992, in New York City, developed an early interest in music. She attended Trinity School and performed with her band, Emily Warren & the Betters, whose single “Not at All” was featured on MTV’s ‘Skins’ soundtrack. Her academic pursuits led her to NYU Tisch School/Clive Davis Institute in 2011, and by 2013, she secured a songwriter’s contract with Prescription Songs. Graduating in 2015, Warren began dividing her time between Los Angeles and London, establishing a foundation for her musical career.

Warren’s career as a songwriter gained significant momentum. She co-wrote Jessie J’s “Masterpiece” in 2014, a track that charted on the US Mainstream Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100, and was certified gold in Australia and New Zealand. Collaborating with Scott Harris, she co-wrote four songs for Shawn Mendes’ platinum-selling album ‘Handwritten’ in 2015. A turning point arrived in 2016 with her co-writing and vocal feature on The Chainsmokers’ “Until You Were Gone.” Her co-written song with The Chainsmokers and Scott Harris, “Don’t Let Me Down,” became a triple-platinum hit in the United States, reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2017. Her uncredited vocals on The Chainsmokers’ “Paris” also generated significant discussion. In 2019, she co-wrote Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now,” which surpassed 2 billion streams on Spotify and earned a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year.

Simultaneously, Warren also pursued her career as an artist. She was featured as a vocalist on Frenship’s viral hit “Capsize” (2016), which is certified platinum and has garnered over 400 million Spotify streams. Her debut solo singles, “Hurt By You,” “Something To Hold On To,” and “Poking Holes” were released in 2017 and featured on Spotify’s viral charts. She was also featured as a lead vocalist on tracks like “Don’t Say” and “My Type” from The Chainsmokers’ debut album ‘Memories…Do Not Open,’ which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart in 2017. Her influential work led to her inclusion in Forbes 30 Under 30 in the music industry in 2017, recognized for her fresh sound and writing style.
