The group, comprised of Cameron ‘Big Gipp’ Gipp, Willie ‘Khujo’ Knighton Jr., Thomas Callaway (CeeLo Green), and Robert ‘T-Mo’ Barnett, made a significant impact with its lead single, ‘Cell Therapy,’ which reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart that same year. Recognized for their integral role in establishing Southern hip hop, Goodie Mob addressed significant social and political themes such as racism, discrimination, geopolitics, and gentrification on ‘Soul Food.’ They continued this success with their second album, ‘Still Standing,’ released in 1998, which also earned Gold certification and further showcased CeeLo Green’s vocal abilities.
