Ileana “iLe” Cabra is a Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican singer and songwriter, known for her powerful vocals and thoughtful lyrics that explore social and political themes. After establishing herself as the female vocalist for the acclaimed hip-hop group Calle 13 for a decade, Grammy Award-winning artist Ileana ‘iLe’ Cabra launched a critically acclaimed solo career. With Calle 13, she participated in extensive tours and high-profile performances, including an a cappella rendition of ‘Pa’l Norte’ at the 8th Annual Latin GRAMMYs® in 2007. She also performed with Calle 13 at the 12th annual Latin GRAMMYs® with Gustavo Dudamel in 2011.
Her debut solo album, _iLevitable_, released in June 2016, garnered immediate critical acclaim, recognized by The New York Times and Billboard among the year’s best albums. The album earned her a Best New Artist nomination at the 17th Annual Latin GRAMMYs® in 2016 and won Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album at the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2017. Following this success, iLe embarked on the _iLevitable_ Tour across the United States and Europe (2017-2018), performing alongside Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra in Japan in 2018. That same year, iLe released ‘Odio,’ raising awareness of the Cerro Maravilla murders, followed by ‘Temes’ in 2019, addressing machismo.
Throughout her distinguished career, iLe has consistently leveraged her artistic platform to advocate for significant social and political causes, notably co-writing ‘Afilando los cuchillos’ during the Telegramgate protests.
