Jason Marsalis

Jason Marsalis is a distinguished American jazz drummer and vibraphonist, celebrated for his innovative contributions to the jazz genre. After making his recording debut on Delfeayo Marsalis’s 1992 release, ‘Pontius Pilate’s Decision’, Jason Marsalis swiftly established himself as a distinguished American jazz drummer and vibraphonist. Marsalis received foundational training with legendary New Orleans drummer James Black and continued to develop his artistry at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), followed by studying percussion at Loyola University New Orleans, alongside composition with Roger Dickerson. His burgeoning career included a national tour with the Marcus Roberts Trio in 1994.

Jason Marsalis’s recent engagements continue to highlight his enduring legacy and artistic relevance within the jazz landscape. In 2022, he was featured in the acclaimed documentary ‘Music Pictures: New Orleans’, further cementing his status as a pivotal figure in the city’s vibrant musical heritage.
