Formed in 1974 by former Jefferson Airplane members Paul Kantner and Grace Slick, Jefferson Starship quickly established its distinct identity, releasing eight gold or platinum-selling studio albums and one gold-selling compilation between 1974 and 1984. Their early run featured successful singles like ‘Miracles’ and ‘With Your Love.’ The band’s trajectory evolved in 1979 with Mickey Thomas joining as lead singer following Grace Slick’s departure. This new lineup delivered the gold-selling album ‘Freedom at Point Zero’ (1979), featuring the hit single ‘Jane’ which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Grace Slick rejoined in 1981, contributing to gold-certified albums such as ‘Modern Times’ (1981), which spawned singles ‘Stranger’ (No. 48) and ‘Find Your Way Back’ (No. 29). This was followed by ‘Winds of Change’ (1982), featuring ‘Be My Lady’ (No.
26) and the title track ‘Winds of Change’ (No. 38). Their 1984 album, ‘Nuclear Furniture,’ reached No. 28 and was certified gold, with the single ‘No Way Out’ hitting No.
