Jennifer Ellison

Jennifer Lesley Ellison was born on May 30, 1983, in Liverpool, England. Her career in entertainment began at an early age as a dancer, training at a dance school in Liverpool and later at the Elizabeth Hill School of Dance in St Helens. She achieved examination passes with the Royal Academy of Dance and appeared in their instructional videos. Ellison demonstrated early aptitude, winning Ballet and Modern Dance titles at the IDTA Theatre Dance Championships in both 1996 and 1997, and receiving the Carl Alan Award for ballet in 1998. After successfully auditioning for the Royal Ballet Lower School, she transitioned her focus to acting.

Ellison gained prominence for her role as Emily Shadwick in the television soap opera “Brookside,” appearing in 289 episodes from 1998 to 2003. This early television success led to opportunities in film, including her debut as Meg Giry in the 2004 film adaptation of “The Phantom of the Opera.” She continued to develop her acting career with roles in television series such as “Hotel Babylon” (2007) and made a notable appearance in the horror film “The Cottage” (2008). Beyond acting, Ellison also explored a music career, releasing two pop rock singles, “Baby I Don’t Care” (2003) and “Bye Bye Boy” (2004), which charted in the UK.

Her career further expanded into reality television and musical theatre. She won “Hell’s Kitchen” in 2004 and participated in “Dancing on Ice” in 2012, reaching the semi-finals. Ellison hosted the UK version of “Dance Moms,” titled “Dance Mums with Jennifer Ellison,” from 2014 to 2015. On stage, she played Roxie Hart in the West End production of “Chicago” in both 2004 and 2006, and later appeared in productions such as “Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds” (2009) and the stage adaptation of “Calendar Girls” (2010). Her consistent work across different entertainment sectors demonstrates her versatility and sustained presence in the industry.
