John Paul Cooper, known professionally as Jp Cooper, was born on November 1, 1983, in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England. His musical journey began by learning his craft within the indie rock scene. This foundation eventually broadened to include influences from gospel, notably connecting with the Sing Out Gospel Choir. This diverse background allowed him to develop a distinctive sound that combines soulful vocals with adept guitar work, creating music that is often described as meaningful and heartfelt.

Cooper’s career began to gain significant traction in the mid-2010s. He released several extended plays, including “EP1” and “EP2” in 2012, followed by “EP3” in 2013, “Keep the Quiet Out” in 2014, and “When the Darkness Comes” in 2015. A pivotal moment in his career came with his feature on Jonas Blue’s 2016 single “Perfect Strangers,” which achieved widespread commercial success, peaking at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart and reaching the top ten in multiple other countries, earning platinum certification in the UK.
