About

Justine Indira Skyers, known professionally as Justine Skye, was born on August 24, 1995, in Brooklyn, New York City. Her mother, Nova Perry, is an entertainment lawyer, and her father, Christopher Skyers, is a corporate merchandiser VP; both have Afro-Jamaican heritage, and her mother also has Indo-Jamaican descent. Her grandfather is N. Nick Perry, former United States ambassador to Jamaica. Skye gained initial recognition by performing songs for the book “Rules to Rock By” and by covering Drake’s song “Headlines” on YouTube, which garnered over two million views. This early online presence helped establish her career in the music industry.

In 2012, Skye released her first mixtape, “Skye High.” The positive reception led to her debut seven-track EP, “Everyday Living.” This EP helped her secure a record deal with Atlantic Records in 2013 at the age of 19. Her song “Hard Work” was featured on BET’s “106 & Park” Top 10 chart. She continued to release music, including the album “Emotionally Unavailable” in 2015, which featured the single “Collide” with Tyga. In addition to her music endeavors, Skye made a guest appearance on the final episode of “House of DVF” and performed at Tidal 10×20, an event organized by Jay-Z, as well as a Tommy Hilfiger show in Brazil.

Skye later departed from Atlantic Records in 2016 and signed with Roc Nation and Republic Records. In December 2016, she released the EP “8 Ounces” to positive reviews. Her debut album, “Ultraviolet,” was released on January 18, 2018, featuring collaborations with artists such as Wizkid and Jeremih. The album achieved a peak position of number 16 on the R&B Album Sales chart. In June 2021, she released her third studio album, “Space & Time,” which was executively produced by Timbaland. Skye has also acted in films like “How High 2” (2019) and “Already Gone,” and taken on recurring roles in television series such as “Grown-ish” (season 5, 2022–2023).
