Lady Blackbird, born Marley Munroe, is an American jazz and soul singer-songwriter who gained critical acclaim and significant recognition after decades of performing in various genres. After signing with a Christian record label in Nashville in 1997, Lady Blackbird embarked on her professional music career, which included collaborations with rap-rock crossover group DC Talk. Her contract with the label concluded in 2003, after which she transitioned to working as an independent musician, touring with TobyMac of DC Talk and performing sessions in New York City and Los Angeles. During this period, she collaborated with notable artists and producers including Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Sam Watters, Tricky Stewart, and Louis Biancaniello.
She has also collaborated with artists like Moby, showcasing her versatility across genres.
