In October 2025, it was announced that Tomlinson would reunite with former band member Malik to star in a documentary series distributed by Netflix and produced by Campfire Studios. Directed by Nicola Marsh, the pair go on a road trip together, and discuss life, loss, and fatherhood. It is expected to premiere in 2026.
Louis Tomlinson, born Louis Troy Austin on December 24, 1991, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, rose to international fame as a member of the acclaimed British-Irish boy band One Direction. His career began after auditioning for The X Factor in 2010 as a solo artist, where he was subsequently grouped with four other contestants to form One Direction. The band quickly became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time, selling over 100 million records globally and achieving immense popularity that led to tours worldwide and multiple number-one albums. Tomlinson contributed significantly to the group’s songwriting, with credits on the majority of their later albums, shaping their sound towards a more mature style.
Following One Direction’s hiatus in 2016, Tomlinson embarked on a solo career, initially releasing collaborative singles such as “Just Hold On” with Steve Aoki, which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart and achieved platinum certification. His debut solo album, “Walls,” released in January 2020, debuted at number 4 in the UK and number 9 on the US Billboard 200. This was followed by his second studio album, “Faith in the Future,” in November 2022, which peaked at number 1 in the UK and number 5 in the US Billboard 200. Tomlinson also served as a judge and mentor on The X Factor in its fifteenth series in 2018, guiding his mentee Dalton Harris to victory.
Beyond music, Tomlinson has cultivated a diverse portfolio that includes entrepreneurial ventures and philanthropic efforts. He founded the indie music festival Away From Home Festival, which has hosted events in London, Málaga, Camaiore, Mérida, and Cooperstown, New York. In August 2023, he launched his streetwear brand “28,” incorporating his Yorkshire heritage into its branding. He has also been actively involved in charity work, donating millions to organizations like Believe in Magic and supporting initiatives such as Soccer Aid for UNICEF. His personal journey, including the transition to solo artistry and navigating personal losses, was captured in his 2023 documentary film, “All of Those Voices.”
