Lyn

Lee Se-jin, known professionally as Lyn, was born on November 9, 1981, in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She pursued her education at Toegyewon Elementary School, Toegyewon Middle School, Inchang High School, and Kyunghee University College of Arts and Design. Her musical journey began with a debut album, ‘My First Confession,’ released on December 13, 2001, under her birth name. This initial release was not commercially successful, leading to a temporary hiatus from her singing career. After this period, she re-emerged under the stage name Lyn, marking a turning point in her professional life.

Lyn officially re-debuted in 2002 with the album ‘Have You Ever Had Heart Broken?’, which featured the breakthrough single ‘Have You Ever Been Hurt By Love?’. This release initiated a period of sustained commercial success. Her third album, ‘Can U See The Bright’ (2004), further solidified her presence in the music industry with the hit single ‘We Were in Love’. Subsequent albums like ‘One and Only Feeling’ (2005) and ‘The Pride of the Morning’ (2007) continued to achieve commercial success, with the latter becoming the second best-selling album of March 2007. Over the years, Lyn has consistently released new music, including the two-part sixth album ‘New Celebration’ (2009) and ‘Candy Train’ (2010), and the two-part seventh album ‘Metro Sexy 7’ (2011) and ‘Love Fiction’ (2012).

A significant part of Lyn’s career has been her contributions to television drama soundtracks. Her rendition of ‘Back in Time’ for the 2012 drama ‘Moon Embracing the Sun’ became a number one hit on the Gaon Digital Chart and sold over three million copies. She followed this with the award-winning song ‘My Destiny’ for ‘My Love From the Star’ (2013), earning her Best Original Soundtrack at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards, a first for an artist in this category. Other notable soundtrack contributions include ‘Just One Day’ for ‘Mask’ (2015), ‘With You’ for ‘Descendants of the Sun’ (2016), and ‘Love Story’ for ‘The Legend of the Blue Sea’. In October 2015, Lyn established her own music label, COMPANY919, after concluding her contract with MUSIC&NEW, demonstrating her career progression toward greater artistic autonomy. She later signed with 325 E&C.
