Megan Ann Moroney, born on October 9, 1997, in Savannah, Georgia, and raised in Douglasville, developed an early affinity for country music in a musical household. She attended Robert S. Alexander High School, where she participated in cheerleading and musical theater. Moroney later pursued higher education at the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She initially studied accounting before shifting her focus to marketing, graduating in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree and a certificate in music business. During her college years, Moroney gained early industry exposure by opening a concert for Jon Langston and interning for Kristian Bush of Sugarland, connections that would prove instrumental early in her career.
Following her graduation, Moroney relocated to Nashville to pursue a music career. She maintained contact with Kristian Bush, who facilitated introductions to other songwriters. Her debut single, “Wonder,” was released in 2021, leading to her first extended play, “Pistol Made of Roses.” In 2022, she released “Tennessee Orange,” a track produced by Bush, which gained significant online traction. The song’s popularity led to Moroney signing with Sony Music, initially under the Arista Nashville label. “Tennessee Orange” subsequently debuted at number 94 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her first entry on a national chart, and also appeared on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. After a reorganization within Sony Music, Moroney transitioned to Columbia Records Nashville.
Her debut album, “Lucky,” was released on May 5, 2023, featuring singles “Tennessee Orange” and “I’m Not Pretty.” The album reached the top 40 of the Billboard 200 and was recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the best Country and American albums of 2023. A deluxe version of “Lucky” followed on September 22, 2023. Moroney released her second album, “Am I Okay?”, on July 12, 2024, which debuted at number 9 on the Billboard 200, her first album to chart in the top 10, with singles “Am I Okay?” and “No Caller ID” entering the Billboard Hot 100. In November 2024, she released a Christmas EP, “Blue Christmas… Duh.” Moroney writes or co-writes all of her music and has embarked on multiple tours, including the Pistol Made of Roses Tour (2023), The Lucky Tour (2023), The Lucky Tour 2.0 (2024), and the Am I Okay? Tour (2025).
