About

Rob Mills was born in June 1982 in Melbourne, Australia. He gained public recognition as a finalist on the first season of Australian Idol in 2003. Following his appearance on Australian Idol, Mills signed with BMG and released his debut album, “Up All Night,” in June 2004, which featured seven co-written tracks. His first single, “Ms. Vanity,” reached Gold status and debuted at number 6 on the Australian charts. After his initial music success, Mills transitioned into touring and television, performing in national TV shows and events like Carols by Candlelight. He also hosted the hidden-camera show “Stooged” on Network Ten in 2005, which was later canceled. In 2007, he became a co-host of “The Mint” on the Nine Network and a regular singer on the game show “The Singing Bee.”

Mills further expanded his career into musical theatre, originating the lead male role of Fiyero in the Australian production of “Wicked” in 2008, performing over 500 shows. He continued to build his reputation in theatre with roles such as Jamie in Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last Five Years” (2011), Warner Huntington III in “Legally Blonde” (2012), and Danny in the Australian tour of “Grease” (2013-2015). In 2016, his portrayal of Sam in “Ghost the Musical” earned him a Helpmann Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. He later played Jesus Christ in “Jesus Christ Superstar” (2017) and Corny Collins in “Hairspray” (2022). His stage acting credits also include playing Cedric Diggory and Voldemort in the Australian performance of “Puffs” (2018), and Shakespeare in “& Juliet” (2023).

Beyond music and theatre, Mills has established a significant presence in television acting and presenting. He joined the cast of “Neighbours” in 2016, playing the role of teacher Finn Kelly from 2017 to 2022, a role that earned him Best Actor at the UK Soap Awards. His other television appearances include “Winners & Losers” (2011), “Underbelly: Razor” (2011), and as the host of the revamped “Young Talent Time” (2012). In 2019, he was the runner-up as ‘Wolf’ on “The Masked Singer Australia.” In 2023, he was named King of Moomba for the Moomba Festival. Mills also released his first book, “Putting On A Show – Manhood, Mates and Mental Health,” earlier in 2022.
