Michael Mayer

Michael Mayer, born on December 11, 1971, in the Black Forest region of Germany, embarked on his musical career by moving to Cologne at the age of 20. In Cologne, he co-founded Kompakt with Wolfgang and Reinhardt Voigt. Established in 1997, Kompakt began as a record shop, evolving over time into a music label, distributor, recording studio, and booking agency. Under Mayer’s guidance, Kompakt became a central hub for electronic music, contributing significantly to the global electronic music scene and placing Cologne on the electronic music map.

Throughout his career, Mayer has maintained an international DJ presence, performing in numerous locations worldwide. He has released several singles and albums on Kompakt and associated labels such as New Trance Atlantic and Kreisel 99. His discography includes notable works like “Neuhouse” (1998), “Touch” (2004), and “Mantasy” (2012). Mayer’s reputation as a producer and remixer led to him being commissioned for various projects, including the London Fabric series in 2003 and the renowned DJ-Kicks compilation in 2017. His work extends to remixing tracks for artists such as Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys.
