Midland earned two Grammy Award nominations in 2018 for their breakout single ‘Drinkin’ Problem’ in the categories of Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance, alongside winning the ACM Award for New Vocal Group of the Year in the same year. Formed in 2014 in Dripping Springs, Texas, the group comprising Mark Wystrach (lead vocals, guitar), Jess Carson (guitar, vocals), and Cameron Duddy (bass guitar, vocals) solidified their musical partnership after recording an initial set of songs at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas, in January 2014. Characterized by a neotraditional country sound blending George Strait’s 80s influence with the rich California harmonies reminiscent of The Eagles, Midland swiftly captured industry attention. They signed with Big Machine Records on March 9, 2016, leading to the release of their self-titled EP which featured ‘Drinkin’ Problem.’ The debut single subsequently charted on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay.
Bassist and vocalist Cameron Duddy is an accomplished music video director, celebrated with an MTV Video Music Award for his work on Bruno Mars’ ‘Locked Out of Heaven.’ Duddy has also helmed numerous Midland music videos, including ‘Drinkin’ Problem,’ ‘Make a Little,’ and ‘Mr. Lonely.’ Lead vocalist Mark Wystrach previously held a contract with IMG Models, contributing a unique background in modeling and acting. Maintaining an active and dynamic presence in both music and entrepreneurship, Midland continues to engage their fanbase through touring and new material. Further diversifying their ventures, the group launched their Insólito Tequila brand in 2020.
In 2024, Midland expanded their brand portfolio by introducing the Palomino Longneck cigar line in partnership with Kingsmakers Cigars, solidifying their status as a multifaceted entertainment entity.
