Meriel de Jesus, known professionally as mrld, was born on February 17, 2005, in Bogo, Cebu, Philippines. She began her musical journey during her junior high school years at the City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy from 2017 to 2019. Her career began to gain traction in 2019 with initial song releases. A pivotal moment in her career occurred in 2021 when she signed a record deal with O/C Records and Viva Records. Under these labels, she re-released her debut track, “An Art Gallery Could Never Be As Unique As You,” which subsequently gained widespread attention and significant streaming numbers. This early success established her as a notable emerging artist in the music industry.

At 17, mrld achieved substantial recognition, including accumulating over 80 million streams on Spotify by October 2022. This milestone was further highlighted by her feature on a New York Times Square billboard in May 2022 as a featured artist for Spotify on Women. This exposure marked a significant step in her international visibility. That same year, she released additional singles such as “Maligayang Pagkunwari” and “Ikaw Pa Rin,” and held her inaugural live performance at Social House in Makati City in October 2022. Her career continued to progress with her debut album, “7th Sense,” released in March 2025, which included previously released singles like “Lihim” and “Sandali.” The album was supported by a concert of the same name at SM North EDSA in April 2025, where she was joined by Healy After Dark and P-pop girl group G22 as opening acts.
