Safeplanet is a Thai indie-pop band that has evolved its unique sound while gaining national recognition through various performances and album releases. After releasing their debut single ‘Black Box’ (‘Klong Dam’) in 2016, Thai indie-pop band Safeplanet rapidly established a distinctive presence within the Thai music scene. Comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Thitipat ‘A’ Arthachinda, drummer Aphiwich ‘Doi’ Khamfoo, and bassist Chayapan ‘Yee’ Chantranuson, the trio united after Arthachinda and Khamfoo, both formerly of ‘Shadow Flare’ and backing musicians for Jelly Rocket, invited Chantranuson to complete their lineup. The band’s initial alternative sound, a deliberate departure from prevailing music styles, propelled them to refine a unique blend of indie-pop, funk, and jazz, characterized by guitar-driven melodies and a distinctive vocal chorus.
Driven by a strong belief in their musical approach, Safeplanet released their highly anticipated ‘Safeboys’ album in 2019. This critically acclaimed project featured popular tracks such as ‘Khamtop’ (Answer) and ‘Kot Khwam Chep Cham’ (Carry), solidifying their reputation for creating a ‘gallery where we could create anything with no right nor wrong.’ This period culminated in their first major concert, the ‘Safeplanet Neonplanet Concert,’ held at Montri Studio in July 2019, drawing a dedicated audience and further cementing their impact on the indie landscape. Safeplanet continued their upward trajectory, releasing their second album, ‘Cap, Capo, Cigarettes & Beer,’ in 2022. This release further showcased their evolving sound and genre exploration, earning widespread fan and critical reception.
Safeplanet remains a significant presence, actively shaping the future of indie music in Thailand and expanding their global reach through continued musical innovation and engaging performances.
