Omoinotake's song "Everblue" was used as the opening theme for the anime "Blue Period," which Netflix streamed outside Japan.
Omoinotake's single "Ikuokukonen" was selected as the theme song for the TV series "Eye Love You," which aired on TBS. The song became a significant hit, reaching 2nd place on Billboard Japan's "JAPAN Hot 100" song chart.
Omoinotake performed the ending theme song "Tsubomi" for the seventh season of the TV anime "My Hero Academia" which is animated by Toei Animation.
Omoinotake collaborated with Jeonghan of the K-pop group SEVENTEEN on the song "Better Half." This collaboration included both a Korean version sung by Jeonghan featuring Omoinotake and a Japanese version included in Omoinotake's album 'Pieces'.
Omoinotake announced a partnership with MPATH, an APM Music KPM Music library, contributing a new song titled 'A Year Of Rain,' which also features the violin playing of an unnamed artist.
Omoinotake formed in 2012 in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, with members Reo Fujii (vocalist/keyboardist), Tomoaki Fukushima (bassist), and Hironoshin Tomita (drummer). The band initially performed locally around Shibuya before releasing their debut album, “So far,” in 2017 under the independent label Neon Records. Over the next few years, they built a presence through various single and EP releases, showcasing their blend of J-pop, city pop, and rock influences. Their early work included providing “Ubugoe (産声)” as the opening theme for the television series adaptation of “Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!” in 2020, and “Heartbeat” for the film sequel in 2022.
The band’s career progressed significantly after signing with Sony Music in 2021. This partnership led to their major label debut album, “Ammolite,” released in September 2023. This album featured previously released singles such as “Everblue,” which served as the opening theme for the anime “Blue Period,” and “Happiness,” the opening theme for “Horimiya: The Missing Pieces.” In 2024, Omoinotake gained widespread recognition with their single “Billions of Light Years” (幾億光年), which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart and was featured as the theme song for the TV show “Eye Love You.” This success culminated in their first appearance on NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen at the end of 2024, a long-standing goal for the band.
Building on this momentum, Omoinotake released their second major album, “Pieces,” in January 2025. This album included “Tsubomi,” the ending theme for the seventh season of the anime “My Hero Academia.” “Pieces” also featured a notable collaboration, “Better Half,” with Jeonghan of the K-pop group Seventeen. In March 2025, they contributed “Hitorigoto” as the second ending theme for the second season of “The Apothecary Diaries.” Looking ahead, Omoinotake announced a one-off performance at Nippon Budokan scheduled for March 15, 2026, marking another significant milestone in their musical journey.
