Phillip Kayode Moses, known professionally as Pheelz, was born on June 5, 1994, in Lagos, Nigeria. His musical journey began at the age of 10, singing in his father’s church choir. This early exposure to music provided a foundation for his career. While attending Ideal Comprehensive High School in Lagos, he interned at Coded Tunes under I.D Cabassa, where he connected with Olamide. In 2011, he contributed vocals to a track on Olamide’s ‘Rapsodi’ album, marking his initial foray into the industry beyond the church.
Pheelz gained significant recognition as a record producer in 2012, producing hit singles like “First of All” and “Fucking with the Devil” for Olamide’s ‘YBNL’ album. His work on Olamide’s ‘Baddest Guy Ever Liveth’ in 2013, where he produced all but one song, solidified his reputation and earned him a nomination at The Headies 2013 for Producer of the Year. He continued to achieve critical acclaim, receiving further nominations at The Headies in 2014 and the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. His production credits span across various prominent artists such as M.I Abaga, Runtown, and Seyi Shay. In 2014, Pheelz collaborated with COPILOT Music and Sound on a Visa digital campaign for the FIFA World Cup, creatively representing Nigerian musical styles.
The early 2020s marked a significant transition for Pheelz as he moved from primarily producing to embracing his role as a recording artist. In 2020, he won Producer of the Year at The Headies for his work on Teni’s “Billionaire.” His debut EP, ‘Hear Me Out,’ released in 2021 through Empire Distribution, showcased his talents as a vocalist and songwriter, featuring tracks like “One Life.” The EP was recognized for its songwriting and production quality. A major turning point arrived in 2022 with his single “Finesse” featuring Bnxn, which achieved international success and charted on the Billboard Global 200, TurnTable Top 50, and UK Singles Chart. Following this, Pheelz signed a record deal with Warner UK in March 2022. He has since released additional EPs, including ‘Pheelz Good’ (2023), ‘Pheelz Good (Triibe Tape)’ (2024), and ‘Pheelz Good II’ (2024), and collaborated with notable artists such as Usher on tracks for his ‘Coming Home’ album, further expanding his global reach and artistic influence.
