Mads Bo (vocals) and Jonathan Elkr (beats) form the Danish R&B and soul duo Phlake. The group’s first song, “So Faded,” was released in 2015 and had some success in Denmark, before Phlake blew up with their 2016 debut album, “Slush Hours,” landing in the Top 20 Danish Album Chart and earning five Danish Grammys, including “Best Danish Album” and “Best New Danish Artist,” as well as being named “Best Album 2016” by Apple Music. The album was certified double Platinum in Denmark. On March 11, 2016, Sony Music released the official international music video for “Pregnant” on YouTube. The song gained popularity in Sweden after the video was released in multiple countries. Their 2017 album, ‘Weird Invitations,’ received millions of streams and was certified double gold, and their single, ‘The Rascal,’ was the biggest hit on Danish radio in 2018.
The duo received international acclaim from publications such as Complex, who praised the band’s “knack for cinematic R&B production,” The Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk, Vice, and i-D for being one of the fastest growing acts to come out of Denmark in recent times. Following unforgettable live appearances at several of the world’s most famous festivals, including Roskilde, By:Larm, ADE, and Euroronic, the band went on to perform sold-out headline shows throughout Europe, including London’s vibrant venue Oslo and Copenhagen’s renowned Danish Radio Concert Hall, where they played a three-night residency of their singular 360 degrees experiential set.
