Phlake, an R&B and soul group from Albertslund, Denmark, was formed in 2015. The duo consists of vocalist Mads Bo and producer Jonathan Elkær. Elkær, who was previously involved with Tabu Records and produced beats for the Danish band Suspekt, sought a new musical direction which led to his collaboration with Mads Bo. Their debut single, “So Faded,” was released in 2015, gaining initial attention in Denmark.
The group achieved significant success with their single “Pregnant,” released on October 16, 2015, which reached number 9 on the Danish singles chart. The international music video for “Pregnant,” distributed by Sony Music, was released on YouTube on March 11, 2016, and contributed to their recognition, particularly in Sweden. Their 2016 debut album, “Slush Hours,” was a critical and commercial success, entering the Top 20 Danish Album Chart and earning them five Danish Grammys, including ‘Best Danish Album’ and ‘Best New Danish Artist’. This album featured “The Rascal,” which became a major hit on Danish radio in 2018. They have performed at international festivals such as Roskilde, By:Larm, ADE, and Euroronic, attracting crowds of over 40,000 at Roskilde.
