Robby Krieger

Robby Krieger is an American guitarist and songwriter, best known as a co-founder and guitarist of the iconic rock band The Doors, and has maintained a career as a solo artist and collaborator with various musicians. After co-founding the iconic rock band The Doors in 1965 with Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, and Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger established himself as a pivotal force in rock music. Krieger significantly shaped The Doors’ distinctive sound with his unique fingerstyle electric guitar approach and broad musical tastes. He was instrumental in the band’s songwriting, penning or co-writing many of their most enduring hits, including the international smash ‘Light My Fire’ (1967), ‘Love Me Two Times,’ ‘Touch Me,’ and ‘Love Her Madly.’ Following Jim Morrison’s passing in 1971, Krieger, Manzarek, and Densmore continued as a trio, releasing two additional albums as The Doors: Other Voices (1971) and Full Circle (1972), with Krieger occasionally contributing lead vocals on tracks such as ‘Runnin’ Blue.’ The trio later reunited to produce An American Prayer (1978), utilizing Morrison’s unreleased poetry.

Robby Krieger’s recent endeavors include the release of his acclaimed solo album The Ritual Begins At Sundown in 2020. That same year, he began producing guitar tutorials for The Doors’ official YouTube channel and co-headlined the Asian Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony with Maki Mae. In 2021, Krieger published his memoir, Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying, and Playing Guitar With the Doors. His enduring impact on music was recognized in 2023 when he was ranked #248 on Rolling Stone’s ‘250 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.’ Most recently, he released Robby Krieger & The Soul Savages in 2024, showcasing his ongoing evolution as an artist.
