Sir Chloe is an American indie rock band that emerged from Vermont in 2017, founded by lead singer Dana Foote during her senior year at Bennington College. Foote, who studied music composition, chose to create a concert of original music instead of a traditional thesis, leading to the formation of the band with her brother and close friends. This innovative approach laid the groundwork for their unique sound and artistic vision, which quickly resonated with audiences.
The band’s breakthrough came with their viral hit “Michelle,” which gained immense popularity on TikTok, showcasing their ability to connect with a modern audience. In 2020, they released their debut EP, “Party Favors,” which further established their presence in the indie rock scene. Their creative versatility was evident in 2021 when they released a cover of Lou Reed’s “Femme Fatale” and a reimagined version of “Michelle,” demonstrating their ability to reinterpret classic songs while maintaining their distinctive style.
In 2022, Sir Chloe continued to build on their momentum with the release of non-album singles “Company” and “Mercy,” both of which received positive acclaim. The following year marked a significant milestone in their career with the announcement of their debut studio album, “I Am The Dog,” released on May 19, 2023. The lead single, “Hooves,” showcased their growth as artists, featuring contributions from notable producers John Congleton and Sarah Tudzin.
Following the album’s release, Sir Chloe embarked on a summer tour alongside renowned artists Beck and Phoenix, further solidifying their status in the music industry. With a sound influenced by Balkan music and bands like Cage the Elephant, Sir Chloe continues to captivate audiences with their innovative approach to indie rock, making them a band to watch in the coming years.
