Tierra Whack, born Tierra Helena Whack on August 11, 1995, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, began her musical journey at a young age, initially performing as “Dizzle Dizz.” Her early exposure to hip hop and a natural talent for rhyming led her to participate in freestyle videos in Philadelphia as a teenager. After a period of moving to Atlanta and working at a car wash to save for recording equipment, she returned to Philadelphia with a collection of unreleased music. In 2017, she signed with Interscope Records, marking a significant turning point in her career. Her debut under her birth name, Tierra Whack, included tracks like “Toe Jam” and “Mumbo Jumbo,” the latter of which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video in 2019.
Her critically acclaimed debut mixtape, “Whack World,” released in May 2018, showcased her unique style with fifteen one-minute tracks, each accompanied by a short film.
