About

Jacques Bermon Webster II, known professionally as Travis Scott, was born on April 30, 1991, in Houston, Texas. His early life was shaped by his surroundings; he lived initially with his grandmother in South Park, Houston, an area he noted for its challenging environment, before moving to the middle-class suburban area of Missouri City with his parents. His father was an entrepreneur and soul musician, and his grandfather was a jazz composer, hinting at a family background steeped in music. Scott attended Elkins High School, graduating at 17, and briefly attended the University of Texas at San Antonio before leaving to pursue his musical aspirations full-time.

Scott’s career began in the late 2000s, forming music groups like The Graduates and The Classmates. After moving to New York City and then Los Angeles, facing initial struggles and financial cut-offs from his parents, he persevered. A turning point came when T.I. of Grand Hustle Records heard his production. In 2012, Scott signed with Epic Records and obtained a publishing deal with Kanye West’s GOOD Music. He released his first full-length mixtape, “Owl Pharaoh,” in 2013, followed by “Days Before Rodeo” in 2014, showcasing his distinctive sound blending hip-hop and lo-fi elements. These early projects laid the groundwork for his future success.

His debut studio album, “Rodeo” (2015), achieved critical and commercial success, featuring his first Billboard Hot 100 charting single “Antidote.” This was followed by his first number-one album on the Billboard 200, “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” (2016). Scott’s third album, “Astroworld” (2018), brought him widespread acclaim and his first Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, “Sicko Mode.” Beyond music, Scott established his record label, Cactus Jack Records, in 2017, signing artists like Don Toliver and Sheck Wes. He has also engaged in numerous high-profile brand collaborations across fashion, food, and gaming, including partnerships with Nike, McDonald’s, Dior, and Fortnite.
