About

Aaron Paul Sturtevant was born on August 27, 1979, in Emmett, Idaho. Growing up, he participated in church programs and local plays. He attended Centennial High School in Boise, Idaho, where he decided to pursue acting. After high school, Paul moved to Los Angeles to begin his career, initially working as an usher at Universal Studios Movie Theatre in Hollywood. His early career included appearances in music videos for Korn and Everlast, along with commercials for brands such as Juicy Fruit, Corn Pops, and Vanilla Coke. He also secured minor roles in television shows like “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Melrose Place,” and films including “K-PAX” (2001) and “Mission: Impossible III” (2006).

Paul’s breakthrough came with his role as Jesse Pinkman in the AMC series “Breaking Bad” (2008–2013). The character was initially intended to be short-lived, but his on-screen chemistry with Bryan Cranston led to the role being expanded. This performance garnered him three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Following the success of “Breaking Bad,” Paul expanded his filmography, starring in movies such as “Need for Speed” (2014), “Exodus: Gods and Kings” (2014), and “Eye in the Sky” (2015). He reprised his iconic role as Jesse Pinkman in the Netflix sequel film “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” (2019) and made guest appearances in the spin-off series “Better Call Saul” (2022).

Beyond his work in feature films, Paul has lent his voice to characters such as Todd Chavez in the animated Netflix series “BoJack Horseman” (2014–2020), where he also served as an executive producer. He took on leading roles in television series like “The Path” (Hulu, 2016–2018) and “Westworld” (HBO, 2020–2022), demonstrating his versatility across different genres. In 2023, he featured in an episode of the Netflix anthology series “Black Mirror.” In addition to his acting career, Paul has engaged in philanthropic efforts, supporting his wife’s non-profit anti-bullying organization, the Kind Campaign, and co-founded the mezcal brand Dos Hombres with Bryan Cranston in 2019.
