Abrar-ul-Haq, a multifaceted figure in Pakistani society, is renowned as a singer-songwriter, philanthropist, and former politician. Born in Faisalabad, Punjab, he embarked on a journey that led him to become a household name not only for his musical prowess but also for his dedication to humanitarian causes.
Having attained his education from prestigious institutions like Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi, and Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Abrar-ul-Haq initially pursued a career in education, briefly teaching at Aitchison College, Lahore. However, his passion for music proved irresistible, prompting him to transition into the realm of melodies.
His debut album, “Billo De Ghar,” released in 1995, catapulted him to fame, earning him the title of the “King of Pakistani pop” and selling over 40.3 million copies worldwide. Beyond his musical endeavors, Abrar-ul-Haq’s heart beats for philanthropy. In 1998, he founded Sahara for Life Trust, a beacon of hope providing vital health services to the people of Narowal and surrounding regions.
Recognized for his commitment to public service, he ventured into politics, joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He contested the 2018 Pakistani general election and later served as the Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
However, in 2023, amidst controversy surrounding political events, Abrar-ul-Haq chose to withdraw from politics, prioritizing his principles above political affiliations.
