Achraf Hakimi Mouh was born on November 4, 1998, in Madrid, Spain, to Moroccan parents. His early life in Getafe involved navigating economic challenges. At the age of eight, Hakimi joined a local football club, Colonia Ofigevi, before entering Real Madrid’s youth academy in 2006. He spent a decade developing his skills within the academy structure, initially as a winger before transitioning to his current role as a right-back.
Hakimi progressed through Real Madrid’s ranks, making his first-team debut at 18 under Zinedine Zidane. In 2018, he secured a two-year loan to Borussia Dortmund, where his performance led to an acceleration in his career. Following notable contributions at Dortmund, he transferred to Inter Milan in 2020 for approximately €40 million, playing a key role in their Serie A title win. In 2021, Paris Saint-Germain acquired him for an approximate fee of €68 million. His time at PSG has been marked by multiple Ligue 1 titles and a significant UEFA Champions League victory in 2025 where he scored the opening goal.
Internationally, Hakimi has been a pivotal figure for the Moroccan national team, making his senior debut at 17 in 2016. He represented Morocco in the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and 2022, notably leading them to the semi-finals in 2022, a historic achievement for an African nation. His international career also includes multiple Africa Cup of Nations appearances and a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Recognized for his pace and offensive capabilities, Hakimi ranked 6th in the 2025 Ballon d’Or, signifying the highest placement for a Moroccan player.
