About

Adam Carolla was born on May 27, 1964, in Los Angeles, California. His early life involved moving between states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania before settling in North Hollywood. After graduating from North Hollywood High School, he briefly attended junior college. Carolla held various jobs, including carpet cleaner, carpenter, boxing instructor, and traffic school instructor, before pursuing a career in entertainment. His initial foray into comedy involved studying improvisational comedy with The Groundlings and becoming a member of the ACME Comedy Theatre troupe. A pivotal moment in his career was training Jimmy Kimmel for a boxing match in 1994, which led to a friendship and a recurring role on KROQ’s “Kevin and Bean Morning Show.” This exposure helped launch his career in broadcasting.

In 1995, Carolla joined Dr. Drew Pinsky as co-host of the syndicated national radio show “Loveline,” which later transitioned to television on MTV, running until 2000. Their collaboration continued on radio until 2005. Concurrently, Carolla co-created and starred in “The Man Show” (1999-2003) and co-created “Crank Yankers” (2002-2007, 2019-2022) with Jimmy Kimmel and Daniel Kellison for Comedy Central. These shows showcased his writing and producing talents, establishing his presence in television comedy. His work extended to hosting “Too Late with Adam Carolla” (2005) on Comedy Central and “The Adam Carolla Project” (2005) on TLC, where he renovated his childhood home.

Following the cancellation of his terrestrial radio show, “The Adam Carolla Show,” in 2009, Carolla launched a daily podcast under the same name, which achieved significant success, earning a Guinness World Record for the most downloaded podcast in 2011. He has authored several New York Times best-selling books, including “In Fifty Years We’ll All Be Chicks” (2010) and “Not Taco Bell Material” (2012). Carolla has also ventured into film, writing and starring in “The Hammer” (2007) and directing documentaries such as “Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman” (2015) and “The 24 Hour War” (2016). His diverse career highlights his ability to adapt and succeed across various media platforms.
