Adam Tsekhman was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1980, and raised in Toronto, Ontario. His parents, Ukrainian immigrants of Jewish descent, moved to Canada in the early 1970s. Tsekhman initially pursued a finance career, studying at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. During this time, he developed an interest in acting, participating in a theater troupe. After graduating from Wharton, he decided against investment banking and instead attended Columbia University, earning a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Acting in May 2006.
Following his graduation, Tsekhman began his acting career, securing a role in the Russian TV series ‘Zona’. This role earned him a nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Series at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival. He then moved to Los Angeles to expand his work in film and television. In 2014, he appeared in the Yiddish-language film ‘Tsili’ as Marek. His career gained significant traction with his role as Gary Green in The CW’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, which he joined in its third season (2017). Initially a recurring character, he was promoted to the main cast for the sixth season (2020–2022), appearing in 61 episodes. Tsekhman has also contributed voice work to video games, including ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ (2020), ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’ (2022), and ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’ (2023).
In addition to his television work, Tsekhman has appeared in films such as ‘Dragged Across Concrete’ (2018) and ‘Crisis’ (2021), where he played an Armenian gangster named Armen. In 2023, he played Omar Zadar in ‘The Night Agent’ for three episodes. His upcoming projects include ‘Falsehood’ and ‘Bau: Artist at War’, both slated for release in 2024–2025. He also has writing and producing credits for short films like ‘Comrades’ (2012) and ‘Americanistan’ (2014).
