Adrian Pasdar

Adrian Pasdar was born on April 30, 1965, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. His early life saw him move to Powelton, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, at age two. He excelled in football during high school, earning a scholarship to the University of Florida in 1983. However, a significant accident during his freshman year, which left him with injuries and scars, redirected his career path. After this setback, Pasdar turned his attention to campus stage productions and reconnected with his childhood interest in writing and acting. He subsequently left university and started working with the People’s Light and Theatre Company, focusing on sound, lighting, and set construction. An on-set accident there, resulting in a thumb injury, provided medical compensation that funded his attendance at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City.

Pasdar’s acting career commenced at the age of 19 with a role in the 1986 film “Top Gun,” where director Tony Scott created the part of “Chipper” specifically for him. This led to further roles in films such as “Solarbabies” (1986), “Streets of Gold” (1986), and Kathryn Bigelow’s 1987 vampire film “Near Dark,” where he played the lead character, Caleb Colton. He also appeared in “Vital Signs” (1990). In the early 1990s, Pasdar took a break from Hollywood, moving to New York and working as a cashier while taking on minor acting roles, including “Frankie” in Brian De Palma’s “Carlito’s Way” (1993). His career saw a significant turn in 1995 when he was cast as the title character in the Fox series “Profit” (1996). Pasdar expanded his creative endeavors by writing and directing the short film “Beyond Belief” (1999) and directing the feature film “Cement” (2000), an independent art-house neo-noir that received Best Picture awards on the festival circuit.

His television work includes a starring role as Professor Declan Dunn in “Mysterious Ways” (2000–2002) and a recurring role as David McClaren in “Judging Amy” (2003–2005). He gained wider recognition for his role as Nathan Petrelli in the NBC superhero drama “Heroes” (2006–2009). Pasdar has also made a name for himself in voice acting, portraying Tony Stark/Iron Man in various Marvel animated series and video games, including “Marvel Anime: Iron Man,” “Ultimate Spider-Man,” and “Avengers Assemble.” From 2014 to 2018, he played Glenn Talbot/Graviton in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and in 2017–2018, he appeared as Morgan Edge in “Supergirl.” His career milestones include a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor in Television for “Heroes.” Today, Pasdar continues to act and remains active in charity work, notably as a guitarist for Band from TV, supporting the Rush Epilepsy Center.
