New York based actress, Adrienne Walker-Nala, is also known as a vocalist. She is originally from Jonesboro, a suburb just outside Atlanta. Growing up, Adrienne spent a lot of time singing in the church. She now holds an undergraduate degree in vocal performance from the historic Spelman College in Atlanta. All of this experience made Adrienne believe that she would continue to pursue a career in opera, which was the reason why she decided to attend The Chicago Conservatory of Performing Arts, earning the degree and a master’s degree in vocal performance. This all changed when Adrienne appeared on her first Chicago gig at Court Theatre in the 2011 production of Porgy and Bess. Her love and passion for theatre grew stronger ever since. Adrienne followed her career in acting by contributing in playing in the Sondheim on Sondheim, HAIR, Rent, Iphigenia in Aulis, Agamemnon, and The Colour Purple. For her latest project, Adrienne received a Jeff nomination. Adrienne came to prominence when she moved to New York in 2016 for her Broadway debut to star as Nala in Disney’s The Lion King. In 2019, Adrienne also starred in Roundabout Theatre’s Broadway revival of Kiss Me Kate as Hattie. So far, Adrienne has had collaborated with directors like John Doyle, Diane Paulus, Charles Newell, Jim Corti, John Stefaniuk, Scott Ellis and Casey Nicolaw.
