Ahmed Tijan

Ahmed Tijan Janko, born on April 28, 1995, in Banjul, The Gambia, is a prominent Qatari beach volleyball player. He has achieved significant milestones in his career, primarily competing alongside his partner, Cherif Younousse Samba. Tijan represents Qatar in international competitions and has become a key figure in the nation’s growing presence in the sport.

His career saw a significant turning point in 2018 when he and Cherif Younousse secured the gold medal at the Asian Games held in Palembang, Indonesia. This achievement marked their emergence as a formidable team in the international beach volleyball circuit. Building on this success, the duo went on to participate in the 2020 Summer Olympics. At the Tokyo 2020 Games, Tijan and Younousse made history by winning the bronze medal, which was the first-ever Olympic medal for Qatar in beach volleyball. They continued their strong performance, earning another gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

In recent years, Tijan has maintained a high level of competition on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. In 2024, he secured a silver medal at the João Pessoa Elite 16 event and a bronze medal at the Doha The Finals tournament. He also participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, finishing in fourth place. These achievements highlight his consistent dedication and skill in the sport.
