Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane made an impactful first-class debut for Mumbai in September 2007, scoring a century, and quickly established himself as a prominent batsman in Indian cricket. His consistent performance, including a remarkable 1089 runs in his second Ranji season in 2008–09, was instrumental in Mumbai securing their 38th title win. Rahane continued to excel in domestic cricket, scoring an unbeaten 265 against Hyderabad in the 2009–10 season and a crucial 152 in the 2011 Irani Trophy, performances that directly led to his selection for India’s Test squad. He made his international debut in a Twenty20 International against England in August 2011, followed by his Test debut in March 2013 against Australia.

Most recently, Rahane led Mumbai to victory in the Ranji Trophy in the 2023-24 season, further cementing his reputation as a formidable leader in domestic cricket. He currently captains Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and, as of March 2025, will assume captaincy for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. An accomplished Indian cricketer, Rahane has formerly served as captain and vice-captain for the Indian national team, consistently contributing to India’s success across formats.
