United States Al Madrigal is a versatile comedian, actor, writer, and producer known for his extensive work in stand-up, television, and film, including his role as a correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."
Multi-hyphenate writer, producer and actor Al Madrigal signed a multi-year overall deal with the Studio to develop new series for broadcast, cable and streaming.
Al Madrigal and comedian Bill Burr co-founded All Things Comedy, a comedy podcast network and artist cooperative, established to help comedians maintain full ownership of their work. The network includes a variety of podcasts and actively works to improve representation, including offering Spanish-language content. They also launched All Things Records in 2014.

Madrigal teamed up with AWA Studios and former Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso to release the comic book 'Primos', which increases Latino representation.
Al Madrigal was born on July 4, 1971, in San Francisco, California. He spent a decade working in his family’s human resources staffing agency, where he was responsible for employee terminations. This experience, which often involved using humor to navigate difficult conversations, paradoxically prepared him for a career in stand-up comedy, eliminating initial stage fright. In 1998, Madrigal transitioned to full-time comedy. His unique style, which blends personal stories, family anecdotes, and observations on his multiethnic background, quickly gained recognition. He performed in San Francisco’s comedy clubs and as part of the sketch group Fresh Robots.
Madrigal’s career saw significant milestones in 2002 with appearances at SF Sketchfest and the “New Faces” showcase at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. In 2004, he received a jury award for best stand-up comedian at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado, leading to a talent holding deal with CBS. His comedic specials include “Comedy Central Presents” (2005), “Why Is The Rabbit Crying?” (2013), lauded by “Westword” and “The Village Voice,” and “Shrimpin’ Ain’t Easy” (2017), praised by “Rolling Stone.” He also co-founded All Things Comedy in 2012 with Bill Burr, a podcast network and artist cooperative designed to empower comedians with ownership of their work.
Beyond stand-up, Madrigal has a notable acting career. He appeared in “Welcome to The Captain” (2008) and co-starred in “Gary Unmarried” (2008). From 2011 to 2016, he served as the “Senior Latino Correspondent” on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” His film credits include “The Way Back” (2020) and “Morbius” (2022). He was a series regular on NBC’s “About a Boy” (2014–2015), earning an Imagen Awards nomination, and on Showtime’s “I’m Dying Up Here” (2017–2018). Currently, he is a series regular on “Lopez vs. Lopez” (2022–2025) and has signed an overall deal with CBS Studios to develop new series. Additionally, he created the comic book series “Primos” (2022) with AWA and Axel Alonso, aiming to increase Latino representation in media.
