She began her career in Philippine television in 2006, initially appearing in the ABS-CBN sitcom “Let’s Go!” as Alex, a role that influenced her popular nickname. Her early work also included appearances in dramas such as “Pangarap na Bituin” and “My Girl.” In 2008, Gonzaga moved to TV5, where she co-hosted the talk show “Juicy!” and took on lead roles in series like “Babaeng Hampaslupa” (2011), establishing her presence as a prominent actress on the network. She pursued higher education concurrently, graduating from the University of Asia and the Pacific with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Education.
Gonzaga returned to ABS-CBN in 2013, marking a significant phase in her career. She became a co-host for the Philippine versions of “The Voice” and “Big Brother.” Her involvement in “Pinoy Big Brother: All In” (2014) as a celebrity houseguest gained considerable attention. That same year, she secured a lead role as Diane Santos in the drama series “Pure Love,” a Philippine adaptation of the Korean drama “49 Days,” which aired from July to November 2014. Additionally, Gonzaga expanded her creative pursuits by releasing her novel, “Dear Alex, Break na Kami. Paano? Love Catherine” (2014), under ABS-CBN Publishing, Inc., which was well-received for its humorous take on relationships. Her film debut under Star Cinema was in “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” (2014), an official entry in the 40th Metro Manila Film Festival, which achieved commercial success.
Her career continued to diversify with the release of her debut studio album, “I Am Alex G.” (2015), featuring the hit single “Panaginip Lang.” This was followed by a grand album launch and a concert titled “AG from the East: The Unexpected Concert” at the Araneta Coliseum. She also starred in the fantasy series “Inday Bote” (2015) and co-hosted the dance competition show “Dance Kids” alongside Robi Domingo. During the COVID-19 pandemic, following the shutdown of ABS-CBN, Gonzaga returned to TV5 in 2020, becoming a main host for “Lunch Out Loud (Tropang LOL),” which ran until 2023.
