Alexandr Wang

Alexandr Wang is a prominent AI researcher and entrepreneur recognized for co-founding Scale AI, a leader in AI data solutions, and for his current role as Meta’s Chief AI Officer. After establishing a formidable early career with achievements including becoming a USACO finalist in 2012 and 2013, and holding full-time engineering roles in Silicon Valley at fintech firm Addepar and the question-and-answer site Quora, Alexandr Wang went on to co-found Scale AI in 2016. Recognized for his strong aptitude for mathematics and computer programming, Wang qualified for the Math Olympiad Program in 2013 and the US Physics Team in 2014. Under his leadership as CEO, Scale AI rapidly emerged as a significant force in the artificial intelligence industry, specializing in data labeling and large language model evaluation services.

His impact was further acknowledged when he was named to Forbes’s 30 Under 30 list in the Enterprise Technology category in 2018. Scale AI achieved substantial milestones under Wang’s direction, reaching a valuation of $7.3 billion in 2021, marking him as a prominent figure in technology and a self-made billionaire. The company secured pivotal defense contracts with the United States Armed Forces, including a $100 million agreement from the Pentagon announced in August 2023. Further solidifying its strategic importance, Scale AI was tapped by the Pentagon’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office to test and evaluate large language models for military applications, and became a preferred partner with OpenAI in August 2023 to fine-tune GPT-3.5.

In his current capacity, Wang oversees Meta’s comprehensive AI strategy, continuing to shape the future of artificial intelligence at one of the world’s leading technology companies.
