Figure skater Alina Zagitova is the only Russian to have won gold at both at the Grand Prix, the European & World Championships and the Olympic Games.
Learning to skate from the age of four, Zagitova, made her professional skating debut at the 2016 Russian Junior Championships, before making her international debut later that season at the Junior Grand Prix, at which she won gold during the finals in Marseille, where she also became the first junior female to score over 200 points. During her junior career, Zagitova went on to win gold at both the 2017 World Junior Championships in Taipei and the European Youth Olympic Festival in Erzurum. Making her senior skating debut in 2017, Zagitova won her first medal at the Russian Championships, where she took home silver. Since then she has gone on to win an array of medals including gold at the 2017-18 Grand Prix finals in Nagoya and silver the following season in Vancouver. Competing at the European Championships Zagitova enjoyed another gold medal win during 2018 in Moscow followed by a silver medal during 2019 in Minsk. Zagitova later went on to become the world champion following her gold medal win at the championships during 2019 in Saitama. As of the 2019-20 season, she is currently ranked eighth in the world.
Qualifying to represent Russia at the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang during 2018, Zagitova contributed to Team Russia taking home the silver medal and successfully took home the gold medal in the Ladies Singles event.
