UK Radio and TV presenter LJ Rich’s passions have been with technology and music since her childhood. The self-confessed geek is best known for presenting BBC’s flagship technology show Click but her synaesthesia is also gaining attention; a perceptible condition which combines senses in an extraordinary way. When hearing music; Rich claims to see colours, when eating; the various textures and tastes trigger musical keys. She has even been interviewed by The New York times regarding this unique condition.
Rich has performed at the United Nations Palais at the #AIForGoodSummit, where she astoundingly played on two pianos and two computers. The audience consisted of over 600 distinguished members, including scientists, ambassadors and highly esteemed guests such as the Secretary General of the International Telecommunications Union. Rich enjoys working with startups, businesses, artists and technologists from all over the world and is part of NASA’s Datanaut program, a project that involved working with scientists on data sonification.
Rich was the first ever person to livestream whilst appearing on BBC World News. She frequently presents and writes for the BBC, discussing how music, technology and social trends come together. Whilst presenting on Click, she interviewed major individuals such as the CEO of google and the founder of Twitter. Her creativity and naturally inventive ability has seen her not only be one of the first to discover the potential of streaming, she has also created ‘the ultimate dance anthem’ at London’s Science Museum and built sensory-altering devices.
