Alisha Boe

Alisha Boe was born Alisha Ilhaan Bø on March 6, 1997, in Oslo, Norway. Her father is Somali and her mother is Norwegian. At the age of seven, she relocated to Los Angeles with her mother and American stepfather. Boe attended Woodlake Elementary School and later George Ellery Hale Middle School, Ivy Academia, and El Camino Real High School, where she participated in the drama program. She completed her junior and senior years of high school through Olin Virtual Academy to accommodate her burgeoning acting career. She is recognized as the first Somali actress to achieve a leading role in an American film since Iman.

Boe began her acting career in 2008 with a role in the horror film “Amusement.” Her early career included appearances in “He’s On My Mind” (2009) and “Paranormal Activity 4” (2012). In 2014, she made guest appearances on “Modern Family” and the thriller series “Extant.” The following year, she had recurring roles in Hulu’s “Casual,” CBS’s “CSI: Cyber,” and Showtime’s “Ray Donovan.” In 2016, she appeared in three episodes of “Teen Wolf.” Her breakthrough role came at age 19 as Jessica Davis in the Netflix original series “13 Reasons Why,” which ran from 2017 to 2020. This role significantly elevated her profile and led to further opportunities in both film and television.

Following her success on “13 Reasons Why,” Boe continued to expand her filmography. In 2017, she starred in the indie feature “68 Kill.” She also appeared in the films “Poms” and “Yes, God, Yes” in 2019, and “Gates of Darkness” in the same year. In 2021, she was featured in Leon Bridges’ music video “Why Don’t You Touch Me.” Her recent projects include the films “When You Finish Saving the World” (2022) as Lila and “Do Revenge” (2022) as Tara. She currently holds a main role as Conchita Closson in the Apple TV+ series “The Buccaneers,” which premiered in 2023 and is slated to continue through 2025. Her career demonstrates consistent engagement in diverse projects across various platforms.
