Allan Havey is an American actor, comedian, writer, and talk show host known for his work in television series such as "Mad Men" and "Billions," and his upcoming role in Peacock's "The Paper."
Allan Havey began his career as a stand-up comedian in New York City in 1981. He made his national debut on “Late Night with David Letterman” in 1986, leading to multiple appearances on the show throughout the 1980s and 1990s. His early career also saw him considered by NBC as a potential successor for David Letterman on “Late Night.” In November 1989, HBO Downtown Productions selected Havey to host “Night After Night with Allan Havey” on The Comedy Channel, a show that ran for three years and gained a cult following. During this period, he also wrote and starred in two comedy specials for HBO, both of which received CableACE Award nominations.
Havey transitioned into acting, accumulating various film and television credits. His film roles include “Internal Affairs” (1990), “Rounders” (1998), “Knockaround Guys” (2001), “Hancock” (2008), and “The Informant!” (2009). On television, he guest-starred in popular series such as “Seinfeld,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “The Sarah Silverman Program.” In 2006, Havey took on a main role as Bob Stahlings in the Fox sitcom “Free Ride.” His later television work includes appearances in “Men of a Certain Age” (2012), “Good Luck Charlie” (2012), and an acclaimed recurring role as Lou Avery in the final two seasons of AMC’s “Mad Men” (2013-2015).
His career continued with significant roles in streaming and television. From 2017 to 2023, Havey held a recurring role as Karl Allard on Showtime’s “Billions.” He also appeared in the Amazon Studios series “The Man in the High Castle” (2015) and Netflix’s “W/ Bob and David” (2015). More recently, he was cast in a recurring role as Marv Putnam in “The Paper,” a new series by Greg Daniels for Peacock, scheduled for 2025-2026. Havey’s diverse career demonstrates his sustained presence across comedy, film, and television.
