Well known for her role as Natalie “Fig” Figueroa in Orange Is The New Black, Alysia Reiner is a Screen Actors Guild Award-winning American actress, producer, and writer. In addition to appearing in a variety of television shows and films throughout her career like Masters of Sex and How To Get Away With Murder, Reiner is recognized for her work as an advocate for women’s rights and climate change initiatives.
A graduate of New York’s Vassar College, Alysia Reiner’s first role came in 1999 after she appeared in an episode of the popular drama series Law and Order. Over the next decade she continued to build her career in the industry with appearances on shows like 30 Rock, Bones, and Hawaii Five-0, alongside appearances in films such as Sideways and That Awkward Moment. She was introduced as Natalie “Fig” Figueroa in Orange Is The New Black in 2013, leading to her most iconic and memorable role, one that would earn her a SAG award in 2014 for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble. While she is best known as a tough-as-nails prison warden in the Netflix series, Reiner has also made recurring appearances in Better Things, The Deuce, How To Get Away With Murder, and more. She produced and starred in the 2016 film Equity, which was released nationwide by Sony Pictures Classics after premiering at Sundance Film Festival. In 2018, Reiner starred in Egg with Christina Hendricks, another film for which she acted as co-producer.
Alysia Reiner is a passionate activist and advocate for women’s rights and climate change. She’s been invited to speak everywhere from The White House to Cannes Lion and has been recognized with several awards for her activism. Reiner is heavily involved with organizations such as Time’s Up and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, and has recently founded her own zero-waste, ethically made womenswear label, Livari.
