Jamie Lee

Jamie Amanda Lee was born on March 15, 1983, in Dallas, Texas, USA. She pursued her education at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on film, theatre, and screenwriting. Following her graduation, she moved to New York City to launch her career in stand-up comedy, writing, and acting. Initially, Lee worked in the publicity department at Comedy Central before shifting her focus entirely to performing and writing. Her foundational experiences also included serving as a writer’s assistant for notable comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Tom Papa, Jeff Cesario, and Chuck Martin on “The Marriage Ref.” In 2010, Lee achieved a significant career milestone by reaching the semi-finals of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” (2010), which propelled her into college tours and television appearances.

Lee continued to build her career, securing a writing position for MTV’s “Ridiculousness” in 2011. Her comedic talent was further recognized in 2012 when she was selected as a “New Face” at the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. She became a core cast member on the popular MTV show “Girl Code” (2013–2015), where she contributed to discussions relevant to young women. This period also saw her guest appearances on late-night shows like “Conan,” “Chelsea Lately,” and “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” In 2016, Lee published her debut book, “Weddiculous: An Unfiltered Guide to Being a Bride,” co-authored with Jacqueline Novak, which was praised by James Corden and Pete Holmes, and named a top wedding book by Bustle Magazine.

Her career continued to evolve with significant roles in television production. She was the female lead in the second season of HBO’s “Crashing” (2018–2019), for which she also served as a writer in the first season. In 2021, Netflix released “The Wedding Coach,” a reality TV series hosted by Lee, focusing on wedding planning. A major highlight of her career is her involvement with “Ted Lasso” (2020–2023), where she has been a writer and an executive producer since its third season, contributing to its critical acclaim and earning two Primetime Emmy Awards (2021, 2022) for Outstanding Comedy Series and a Writers Guild of America Award (2021) for Television: Comedy Series. Most recently, Lee has been filming “Unsettling” as creator, writer, and executive producer, and will appear in “Plan B” (2024) and “Beneath the Fold” (2024).
