Andy was up in Northern California and knew he wanted to be a Navy SEAL since he was 11 years old. He joined the Navy as a junior in high school and served in the military until 1996. Andy graduated and joined SEAL Team Five in Coronado, California, where he began his SEAL career. In 2002, he applied for and was accepted for the military’s most elite counterterrorism organization, SEAL Team Six. This force is in charge of carrying out the country’s most important missions, many of which have been the subject of Hollywood films and books. Andy led hundreds of combat missions around the world in support of the Global War on Terror during his 17-year career.
In June of 2013, he was medically retired. Among his awards and medals are the Purple Heart, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two Combat Action Ribbons, and the Presidential Unit Citation. Even though he is no longer on active duty, Andy continues to advocate for the SEAL community and their families.
In an effort to raise $1 million for the Navy SEAL Foundation, he established two World Records by jumping from 36,500 feet and flying over 18 miles in a wingsuit. Andy is a sponsored skydiver and BASE jumper that travels the world. Following his military service, Andy established a consultancy firm focused on ensuring that the lessons learned from nearly a decade of continuous conflict are retained, polished, and applied by business leaders. He’s worked with Fortune 500 companies as well as federal, state, and local governments all across the world. He also has a podcast that he broadcasts called, “Coming in hot!…Cleared Hot!” as well as a blog, “Confessions of an Idiot.”
