Angela Funovits, born on July 29, 1987, in Avon Lake, Ohio, developed an interest in magic at age 10 after watching a television program revealing magicians’ secrets. Her early career also included modeling from age 11 after being scouted by Elite Model Management, and she won the Miss Teen Cleveland pageant at 16. Funovits graduated from Avon Lake High School in 2005 and pursued a combined B.S./M.D. program at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.
Her medical journey continued with graduation from Northeast Ohio Medical University in the spring of 2013. She completed her dermatology residency at Case Western Reserve University/MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, where she served as academic chief resident and received the American Academy of Dermatology’s Presidential Citation Award. Currently, she practices as a full-time dermatologist at Allied Dermatology and Skin Surgery in Mayfield Heights and Fairlawn offices, a role she has held for over eight years as of 2024.
Parallel to her medical profession, Funovits gained significant recognition as a mentalist and illusionist. She was the first runner-up on NBC’s primetime series “Phenomenon” in 2007. Her international appearances include representing the US in Germany’s “Die besten Mentalisten der Welt” on ProSieben and appearing on Japan’s “W-1” on Fuji Television Network with Mr. Maric. She has also been featured on SyFy’s “Wizard Wars” and The CW’s “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” and “Masters of Illusion.” Funovits continues to run Seraphim One, a production company she founded in 2006, managing her performance engagements.
