Anthony Tyrone Evans Jr. was born on July 14, 1978, in Dallas, Texas. The son of renowned Christian radio personality and pastor Dr. Tony Evans, Anthony grew up in a household deeply rooted in faith. He pursued higher education at Liberty University. His musical journey began with a strong foundation in contemporary Christian music and urban gospel. Early in his career, he released his debut studio album, “Even More,” in 2004 with Epic Records, followed by “Letting Go” in 2006 under Integrity Music. These initial releases established his presence in the gospel music scene, showcasing his vocal abilities and songwriting talent.
Evans’ career gained wider recognition when he appeared on the second season of NBC’s “The Voice” in 2012. Although eliminated in the battle rounds on Team Aguilera, his participation introduced his music to a mainstream audience and expanded his artistic perspective. This experience influenced his later work, encouraging him to explore new creative avenues. Following “The Voice,” he released “Real Life/Real Worship” in 2014, which became his most commercially successful album to date, charting on the Billboard 200, Top Christian Albums, and Top Gospel Albums charts. This demonstrated his ability to connect with both his core audience and new listeners.
Throughout his career, Evans has been involved in various projects beyond his solo albums. He performed live at the Independence Day reception of the U.S. Embassy Berlin in 2018 and took on the role of the Beast in a stage production of “Beauty and the Beast.” His work also extends to acting, with a role in the Christian faith-based film “Caged No More” in 2016.
