Arda Turan

Arda Turan’s illustrious playing career saw him become the most expensive Turkish footballer of all-time with his €12 million transfer to Atlético Madrid in 2011. A product of the Galatasaray youth system, Turan made his senior debut in the 2004–05 season and quickly established himself as a pivotal player, eventually becoming captain in the 2009–10 season while wearing the coveted number 10 jersey. His exceptional performances with Galatasaray led to his landmark move to Spain, where he played a central role in Atlético Madrid’s significant successes, including winning the UEFA Europa League in 2012, the UEFA Super Cup in 2012, and the La Liga title in the 2013-14 season. Following his impactful tenure at Atlético Madrid, Turan commanded a €34 million transfer to Barcelona in 2015.

Under his leadership, Eyüpspor quickly demonstrated remarkable progress, culminating in their promotion to the prestigious Süper Lig in 2024, a testament to his strategic acumen and leadership skills. Building on this rapid managerial success, Turan was appointed head coach of Ukrainian Premier League club Shakhtar Donetsk in May 2025, marking a significant step in his evolving career.
