Ariel Elias was born on July 29, 1989, in the USA and grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. Her early life in Kentucky provided a distinctive backdrop for her comedic development, as she navigated growing up Jewish in a predominantly Christian environment. Elias began performing stand-up comedy during her college years at Tulane University in New Orleans, where she also pursued studies in saxophone before a jaw issue altered her path. Her early material often engaged with her identity as a ‘Kentucky Jew,’ finding humor in specific cultural observations and interactions.

Elias gained significant public attention in October 2022 following an incident at a comedy club in New Jersey. During a performance, a heckler, reacting to Elias’s left-leaning political jokes, caused a disturbance, leading to their companion throwing a can of alcoholic seltzer at her onstage. Elias responded to this act by calmly picking up the can and drinking its contents, a moment that quickly went viral across social media. This incident led to appearances on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ amplifying her national recognition. In 2021, Elias was recognized with the ‘New Face’ award at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, and in 2022, she was listed among Paste Magazine’s Best Comedians.

In 2025, Elias released her debut hour-long comedy special, ‘A Jewish Star,’ recorded in Vermont and available on YouTube. The special further explores her upbringing, Jewish heritage, and her distinctive viewpoint on various topics. Her work is characterized by a blend of personal anecdotes and sharp social commentary, demonstrating her ability to handle unexpected live situations and transform them into part of her comedic narrative. Elias currently resides in Queens, New York, with her husband and dog.
